McGehee, AR - Trip Report #8 - Lake Chicot

Hey friends, Nate here. Tuesday night we had a great time at Lake Chicot and here are some of our kids jumping on a dock. The lake water was over 80 degrees and there were crazy carp that jumped in the air as the kids tubed behind the boat. It was hilarious to hear the screams.
Last night after a good day of work and VBS we headed out to meet with some of my college buddies who farm in the area. The kids got to shoot skeet, eat catfish and 25 whole chickens done on the rotisserie at the duck camp. There were some 4-Wheeler rides as well as many trips through the corn. Here is a picture of some of my friends who served us well.

It has been such a blessing to see young kids in the area love VBS. Our students are loving their kids in such a great way. We drive bye one of the wheelchair ramps that was built each morning and there is no doubt that this will change one lady's life in a drastic way. Besides the projects we have completed, the locals have repeatedly told us that we have brought such energy and excitement to their little town. The relational aspect of this trip has been rich and fruitful. Our students have been reflecting each night as they identify where God has been at work and what He has been up to. Tonight we have the local Gospel Sing and potluck for the community. Several of our kids will be playing music in this great experience.

On a more difficult note, we found out that the man who we helped after his car flipped over actually died. As he was being evacuated by helicopter, his vitals spiked and my guess that his head trauma and internal injuries were too substantial. As we prayed and discussed this last night, we return to the question, "So where is God in all this?"
